Tadas Sokolovas’ Marilyn Meownroe reimagines Marilyn Monroe through a playful collision of glamour, feline symbolism, and contemporary neo-pop energy. Her instantly recognizable portrait is transformed with cat ears and surrounded by an exuberant world of color, handwritten phrases, symbols, and graphic references. Twenty-one cats appear throughout the composition, shifting between charming and mischievous, creating a visual language that mirrors Marilyn’s own duality - softness and strength, vulnerability and magnetism.

The surface is deliberately dense and highly layered. Matte acrylics, glossy lacquer, gold and silver accents, expressive linework, and fragments of text build a composition that rewards close viewing. The cats weave in and out of the portrait like recurring characters, while bold reds, turquoise, yellow, black, and metallic details push the image beyond traditional portraiture into something theatrical and immersive. Selected areas also respond under UV light, adding another unexpected dimension to the work and reinforcing its sense of spectacle.
