Playful, strange, and exuberantly surreal, Andrius Miezis’s Suddenly, a Lucky Hare Jumped Out of the Woods feels like a burst of animated joy filtered through a dream. The bright yellow hare stretches across the canvas with impossible elasticity, clutching an ice cream cone that seems both triumphant and absurd. Its oversized teeth, blue-tipped fingers, and swirling wooden-like ears turn the creature into a hybrid of cartoon and sculpture, something alive yet sculpted from imagination itself.

The background contrasts this kinetic energy with quiet winter trees, their bare branches stylized against a flat gray-blue sky. This tension - between exuberant fantasy and muted stillness - gives the work its pulse.

Miezis captures the absurdity and wonder of spontaneous happiness. The hare’s appearance feels like a metaphor for luck itself: unpredictable, fleeting, and oddly shaped, but full of warmth and humor. It’s a reminder that joy, much like this surreal creature, often leaps into our lives unannounced - bright, strange, and entirely unforgettable.
