Andrius Miezis’s You Are Not Like Everyone gently confronts the viewer with a portrait of quiet individuality - a chimpanzee holding a bright yellow flower against a pale pink sky. The simplicity of the scene belies its emotional resonance. In the tender gaze of the animal and the delicate grasp of the blossom, Miezis finds an unexpected harmony between instinct and contemplation, humor and grace. The painting becomes both a satire and a celebration of what it means to be different - to find beauty in an absurd, human way.

The composition balances whimsy with tenderness. The smooth expanse of pastel sky contrasts with the dark, textured fur, while soft clouds drift like daydreams across the frame. The yellow flower glows as the single accent of warmth, symbolizing innocence, curiosity, and quiet rebellion. The chimpanzee’s expression - calm, thoughtful, almost wistful - mirrors the viewer’s own search for meaning in a world that rarely notices such gestures.

In You Are Not Like Everyone, Miezis explores the intersection of humanity and otherness with disarming simplicity. The work’s humor carries a touch of melancholy, suggesting that individuality is both a gift and a burden. Through this serene and surreal encounter, Miezis invites us to pause, breathe, and recognize the small, poetic acts that make us beautifully unlike anyone else.
