Butterfly by Migle Kosinskaite is a haunting meditation on fragility, exhaustion, and quiet resilience. The figure, bent in introspection, carries a wind-up key in her back - a symbol both mechanical and metaphorical. It suggests the tension between autonomy and control, between the drive to move and the need to rest. Draped in pale fabric, the body becomes almost ethereal, an embodiment of vulnerability wrapped in grace.

Kosinskaite’s palette is subdued, her tones of silver, ivory, and muted taupe breathing with melancholy calm. The texture of the background recalls the slow hum of thought, a field of quiet chaos against which the figure’s stillness glows. Light caresses the contours of her form with tenderness, inviting reflection rather than drama. It’s a moment caught between surrender and rebirth.

In Butterfly, Kosinskaite evokes the delicate machinery of the human spirit. The wind-up key, once a symbol of limitation, becomes a metaphor for persistence - the will to begin again, to turn inward and find motion in stillness. The artwork captures the fragile balance between human weariness and the infinite capacity to rise - as weightless, and as necessary, as breath itself.
