In Dual Ego - Andrius Miezis constructs a surreal meditation on identity, symmetry, and the fragile balance of opposites. At the center of a concentric target-like background, two heads emerge - one golden, radiant and open-handed, the other gray, introspective and withdrawn. Between them, a faceted blue orb seems to pulse like a shared consciousness, a symbol of unity that both separates and connects. Below, a row of vividly colored flowers anchors the scene in a tender, earthly vibrancy that contrasts with the cerebral stillness above.
The piece operates on both emotional and philosophical levels. Miezis visualizes inner dialogue as a literal doubling - two egos bound in circular repetition, orbiting the same truth yet reaching toward different directions. The golden self longs for expansion and light; the gray one, for quiet and containment. This mirrored tension radiates through the entire composition, transforming the target motif into a metaphor for the self continually aiming at its own center.
Dual Ego feels like a self-portrait of human complexity - a visual poem about balance and contradiction. Miezis captures the endless push and pull between thought and feeling, shadow and clarity, the wish to be singular and the need to be whole. It is both a portrait of conflict and an offering of peace, suggesting that perhaps duality itself is what makes consciousness beautiful.
