Andrius Miezis’s Primeval Beast introduces a creature both mythic and mechanical - an evolution of absurd imagination. The animal stands on a bed of soft, luminous spheres that feel like eggs or thoughts, pulsing with strange vitality. Its rust-red body is etched with cryptic marks and graffiti-like text - “god is a dj,” “evolution” - turning its skin into a layered palimpsest of modern symbols and primal memory.

The beast’s hybrid anatomy - pipes for eyes, a wing that cannot lift, antlers that barely grow - speaks of transformation and failure, of creation’s messy beauty. Its expression is unreadable, hovering between sadness and defiance, as if aware of its own surreal existence.

Rendered in Miezis’s signature soft realism and muted surreal palette, the work radiates quiet irony. Primeval Beast is both a satire of progress and a meditation on persistence - a vision of evolution as poetry, where even the most awkward forms of life still strive toward meaning.
