Andrius Miezis’s Short Circuit captures a moment of curious tenderness between technology and nature - a small robot gently holding a hedgehog as bolts of electricity spark playfully from its antennae. The contrast between metal and fur, current and stillness, creates a quietly humorous yet deeply human scene. Through the robot’s fixed smile and the animal’s wary calm, Miezis explores the fragile connection between empathy and mechanism, asking what it means to feel in a world built from circuits and code.

The composition balances warmth and irony. Rendered in soft, muted grays and silvers, the painting hums with subdued energy. The textured background hints at abstraction, giving the sense of a dream or malfunctioning memory. Lightning arcs across the robot’s head like a visual metaphor for thought, emotion, or perhaps overload. Despite the mechanical setting, the hedgehog’s presence anchors the image in something real and breathing - an emblem of life’s quiet resilience amidst artificial order.

In Short Circuit, Miezis fuses humor with melancholy, exploring the emotional paradox of modern existence. The work becomes a meditation on connection - how even the coldest machinery may long for warmth, and how tenderness, once sparked, can bridge the gap between metal and heart.
