In Sweater for Astronaut, Andrius Miezis fuses the cosmic with the domestic, wrapping the vastness of space in the warmth of a handmade quilt. The central figure, a rounded, plug-headed being, gazes out quietly from a dark void, its body cloaked in a patchwork of colorful geometric forms that shimmer like facets of starlight.
The blanket of prismatic patterns becomes both armor and comfort - a metaphor for human fragility amid the infinite. The dangling electrical plugs hint at connection and disconnection, as if the astronaut drifts between worlds, recharging from the colors of memory, imagination, and emotion.
Miezis transforms the notion of exploration into an intimate gesture: the universe becomes a bed, and the dreamer within it, tenderly powered by wonder.
