Tadas Sokolovas’ Eyes of Lisa reimagines one of art history’s most recognizable figures through the restless visual language of contemporary culture. The familiar silhouette of the Mona Lisa emerges from a kaleidoscope of graffiti-like marks, handwritten phrases, symbols, logos, and saturated color. Across her lap rests a vividly patterned tiger, bringing an unexpected sense of instinct and wild energy to her famously composed presence. Renaissance serenity collides with the visual noise of the present, transforming an icon of the past into something unmistakably contemporary.

Eyes dominate the composition, turning the act of looking into one of the painting’s central themes. Lisa herself mysteriously possesses multiple eyes, while an enormous black-and-white eye watches from the upper corner. Layers of text, imagery, cultural references, and fragmented messages compete for attention, echoing a world saturated with advertising, branding, information, and constant observation. Sokolovas balances this deliberate chaos with humor and intelligent sarcasm, allowing familiar symbols to take on new and unexpected meanings.
