Blue Horse
Tadas Sokolovas’ Blue Horse transforms the image of the horse into a vivid symbol of instinct, endurance, and inner strength. The animal dominates the composition, its body constructed from an intricate accumulation of color, pattern, text, and graphic fragments. Electric blues, turquoise, orange, yellow, and green move across its form like a living map, while the surrounding black field gives the figure an almost monumental presence. Rather than depicting the horse realistically, Sokolovas turns it into an expressive vessel for energy, emotion, and personal mythology.
The surface is dense with handwritten phrases, symbols, geometric marks, and recurring references to movement, light, spirit, and resilience. Statements such as “Your soul has to be stronger than your body” reinforce the work’s underlying sense of determination, while words and motifs scattered across the horse suggest a mind and body in constant motion. The contrast between the intensely decorated figure and the deep black background heightens the tension between physical power and inner life, allowing each fragment of color and language to emerge with greater force.
Blue Horse is ultimately a meditation on freedom, vitality, and the drive to keep moving forward. Sokolovas presents the horse not simply as an animal, but as an archetype of strength - instinctive, restless, and impossible to contain. Bold, layered, and richly symbolic, the work invites the viewer to move between image and text, discovering a composition that feels at once ancient in spirit and unmistakably contemporary.
