In Cranes III, Zivile Rudzikaite-Matuzoniene captures the breath before transformation - a poised, luminous moment in which the cranes test the hinge between gravity and grace. Their wings unfurl halfway, the muscles beneath them caught in a quiet prelude to flight. The air trembles with light, and the reflection of sky merges so seamlessly with water that the boundary between the two vanishes. The world, it seems, is preparing for their ascent.

Rudzikaite-Matuzoniene’s handling of form becomes more fluid here, her brushwork looser yet more confident. The composition stretches outward, letting space itself participate in the act of becoming. The cranes, rendered with elegant restraint, are no longer bound to their reflections; instead, they begin to rise above them. The hues soften to twilight blues and misted ochres, and light filters through the wings like water through glass.

In this third movement of the cycle, the painter transforms waiting into awakening. What was once contemplation now becomes readiness incarnate. Cranes III is not flight itself, but the promise of it - the pulse of energy just before release. Together, the first three works form a sacred triad: stillness, decision, and awakening - a progression that leads us inexorably toward the liberation of Cranes IV, where motion will at last take form.

Zivile Rudzikaite-Matuzoniene

Zivile Rudzikaite-Matuzoniene is a talented Lithuanian artist whose work captures the subtle interplay of nature, emotions, and human connection. A graduate of the prestigious Vilnius Academy of Arts, she holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Fine Arts.
